The features of My Relationship, Chart, and Calendar are designed to help adolescents to recognize early signs of relationship violence by (a) monitoring the relationship, (b) presenting quantifiable feedback about potential and/or actual violence, and (c) receiving a danger text-sound alert when an abusive act was recorded. To prepare for immediate assistance, the Get Help feature encourages adolescents create a circle of trust by listing the contact numbers of three trusted persons whom he/she can call/text/email within seconds in case of an emergency.The app also provides an option to contact the National Dating Abuse Helpline if needed.Conclusion: With the strength of the Better Me app, we look forward to providing a prevention tool for adolescent dating violence.Researchers have found significant associations between adolescent involvement in violent dating relationships and lower self-esteem and/or more negative self-concept (Ackard & Neumark- Sztainer, 2002; Collin-Vézina, Hébert, Manseau, Blais, & Fernet, 2006), more anxiety and depression symptoms (Holt & Espelage, 2005; Kaura & Lohman, 2007), and reported suicidal ideation or attempts (Chan, Straus, Brownridge, Tiwari, & Leung, 2008; Coker et al., 2000).There is also considerable empirical evidence about the association between dating violence and other health risk behaviors such as alcohol and substance abuse, disordered eating and sexual risk behaviors (Ackard & Neumark-Sztainer, 2002; Alleyne, Coleman-Cowger, Crown, Gibbons, & Vines, 2011; Coker et al., 2000; Eaton, Davis, Barrios, Brener, & Noonan, 2007; Silverman, Raj, Mucci, & Hathaway, 2001; Temple & Freeman, 2011).A 21-lesson curriculum delivered during 28 hours by teachers with additional training in the dynamics of dating violence and healthy relationships.

Dating violence prevention was integrated with core lessons about healthy relationships, sexual health, and substance use prevention using interactive exercises.
